Stable 2 is an E. coli cloning strain optimized for unstable, repetitive or rearrangement-prone DNA, including retroviral or lentiviral sequences and large plasmids. The chemically competent preparation is specified at a transformation efficiency of at least 1 × 10⁹ CFU per µg of control DNA. It is supplied as 12x50μl, stored at -80°C, and has a stated shelf life of ≥ 15 months.
