Test for the frizzle feather trait before it shows. This gelPCR™ test detects the KRT75 mutation responsible for frizzle plumage in chickens (Gallus gallus domesticus) — an incompletely dominant trait — from a blood or feather sample with results in hours.
- Detects the frizzle-causing KRT75 mutation in chickens (Gallus gallus domesticus)
- DNA is extracted from blood (including ex-ovo blood draws) and feather samples
- gelPCR™ results: two bands = one copy of the frizzle allele (+/F), upper band only = no frizzle allele (+/+)
- Note: does not detect the KRT75L4 variant found in some frizzle lines
- Sufficient materials for 32 tests
- Includes reagents and PCR tubes; miniPCR® equipment and consumables sold separately. Store at -20°C; stable for 9 months
