BL21(DE3)pLysS is a T7 expression strain in which the pLysS plasmid suppresses basal T7 RNA polymerase activity, making it useful for tightly controlled or potentially toxic protein expression. The cells are prepared for chemical transformation, allowing direct use with the appropriate transformation protocol. It is supplied as 12x50µl, stored at -80°C, and has a stated shelf life of ≥ 15 months.
