Predict blue-egg layers before the first egg. This gelPCR™ test detects the oocyan (blue egg) allele in chickens (Gallus gallus domesticus) and tells you how many copies a bird carries, all from a dried blood spot or feather follicle with results in hours.
- Detects the oocyan blue-egg allele and distinguishes copy number in chickens (Gallus gallus domesticus)
- DNA is extracted from dried blood spots or feather follicle samples
- gelPCR™ results: one lower band = two copies (homozygous), two bands = one copy (heterozygous), upper band only = no blue-egg allele
