Pol II antibody and Pol II S2p/S5p monoclonal antibodies recognize and bind to RNA polymerase II (Pol II) and phosphorylated forms of Pol II at serine residues 2 and 5, respectively. Pol II is responsible for transcribing protein-coding genes and some non-coding RNAs, while phosphorylation at serine 2 and 5 is associated with different stages of transcriptional elongation.
