Staphylococcus aureus RN4220 is a restriction-deficient laboratory strain used as an initial recipient for plasmid electroporation before transfer into other S. aureus backgrounds. The cells are prepared for electroporation, allowing direct use with the appropriate transformation protocol. It is supplied as 5x200µl, stored at -80°C, and has a stated shelf life of ≥ 15 months.
